Quality of sleep and relationship quality are linked, researchers say


Have a rough night's sleep? Then chances are you won't have sex tonight.

Your quality of sleep is linked to the quality of your relationship, according to a new University of Arizona study.

Twenty-nine couples kept sleep diaries and recorded the quality of their interactions with their partners for a week. Men were more upbeat about their relationships after a good night's rest. When women reported negative feelings about their relationship during the day, both the women and their partners slept poorly that night.

That’s a nasty cycle: conflict leads to bad sleep, which leads to more conflict. Researchers recommend resolving problems before going to bed and avoiding difficult conversations on a day after either of you hasn't slept well.
